Solid lubricant and start up film
- The inserts are positioned overlapping in the sliding direction.
- The lubrication film will deteriorate over time but is replaced with lubrication provided by the inserts
- Once the bearing is fully machined, a 20 microns film of a similar composition to the solid lubricant inserts may be applied. This film eases the critical start up process (stick-slip).
